The election for the Ladera Heights Civic Association (LHCA) Board of Directors has concluded. A total of 13 candidates sought to fill seven (7) vacancies on our Board. I can’t say this number of candidates is unprecedented, but I can say they certainly were an impressive group with a broad range of experience and outstanding talent. Our Board would absolutely benefit from the participation of each and every one of them. However, only the top seven (7) candidates with the most votes are elected to serve on the Board. The remaining candidates are invited to serve as General Advisors. These Advisors participate with and may even lead various committees, but they are not eligible to vote on Board actions. I am pleased to report that several candidates have expressed their desire to serve as an Advisor.
A total of 623 ballots were mailed to members of the LHCA at the beginning of this month and were given a little over two weeks to return their ballot. As of the return deadline of December 18th, only 45% of the mailed ballots had been received. It is my sincere hope for the future that we will see greater participation in LHCA membership from residents of our community. Your membership dues of only $25 annually helps provide donations to several local groups like the LaTijera and Parent School PTAs, Ladera Cleanup days, Ladera Pet Rescue, Ladera AYSO, Ladera Little League, Board of Supervisors' Candidate Forum, and other worthy causes.
